10 Regent University Graduates Who Are Changing the World

1. Changing the world of Philanthropy
Minister Terrance A. Bridges believes in the power of music to people to God, sing in the church choir from the age of six and the leadership to unite because he was 13. By the time he was 15, Bridges had been called to preach the gospel, and at 17 he became one of the first Bill Gates Millennium Scholars, founded Kingdom Force International Ministries, Inc., a group dedicated to the physical and spiritual renewal of nationals Third World countries. Bridges serves today as the Kingdom Force’s Chief Executive Officer.
At Regent, Bridges is all-but-dissertation (ABD) in his work towards a Doctor of Education.
2. Changing the world of Comedy
Actor Tony Hale is perhaps best known for his role of Byron “Buster” Bluth on Arrested Development TVs. Hale’s career includes roles in NBC’s Andy Barker PI, Chuck, and Showtime United States of Tara, as well as major feature films Stranger Than Fiction, Because I Said So, and The Informant!
After graduating from Regent’s School of Communication and the Arts, Hale lived in New York for nearly a decade, where he founded the Haven, an artistically minded Christian ministry.
3. Changing the world of Advocacy
Miss America 1999 Nicole Johnson is an international lawyer diabetes, traveling widely to raise awareness, promoting prevention and intensive management of the disorder she has shared for 15 years.
This Regent 1998 Master of Arts in journalism training, the Telly Award-winning host of the weekly talk show, dLifeTV CNBC diabetes, and wrote four books, including her autobiography Living with diabetes. Nicole was also Nicole Johnson Foundation to address gaps in diabetes education to help.
4. Changing the world of industry
Officer and Regent alum Lisa Kruska, the nation’s first assistant secretary of labor by nomination for president and U.S. Senate confirmation. She served under Secretary Elaine Chao L., who oversaw the creation of the Center for Faith-Based & Community Initiatives.
5. Changing the world of literature
Charles Martin is an acclaimed author of six books, including Where the river ends. Martin graduated from Florida State University before receiving his MA and Ph.D. in journalism in the communication from Regent University.
He has served as an adjunct professor of English at Hampton University and a doctoral fellow at Regent. In 1999 he left a career in business to pursue his writing.
6. Changing the world of politics
Robert F. “Bob” McDonnell, the 44th Attorney General of Virginia, now full-time campaign for governor in the 2009 race.
After graduating with a B.B.A. in Management from the University of Notre Dame in 1976, McDonnell served four years in the United States United States States Army and Army Reserve in 1916, running a medical clinic in Germany 1976-1979 and in Newport News, Virginia, 1979 to 1981. He is a 1989 graduate of the Regent, where he was a MA / JD
7. Changing the world of film
A winner of the 2006-2007 arts program in Labs, Cheryl McKay has a Master’s of Fine Arts at Regent and is a professional writer for more than a decade. McKay wrote the screenplay for The Ultimate Gift, an award-winning film released by Fox in 2007 starring James Garner, Brian Dennehy, and Abigail Breslin.
McKay also wrote for the DVD Gigi: God’s Little Princess and the Wild & Wacky Bible Stories in which all audio series and books by Frank Peretti. Her script, never the bride, was adapted into a novel for Random House Publishers and was released in June 2009.
8. Changing the world of law
Attorney Jay Sekulow earned his Ph.D. of Regent University, writing his thesis on the subject of American legal history.
In 1990, Sekulow, the Director of the American Center for Law and Justice. Besides his duties as Chief Counsel of the ACLJ host Jay Sekulow Live it!, A syndicated daily radio program that is broadcast on nearly 850 stations nationwide. Sekulow is also the host of ACLJ This Week, a weekly television news program aired on TBN.
9. Changing the World of Music
Christian recording artist Jason Upton found initial success but his appearances on Lou Engle, the call traffic. Since graduating with a Master of Divinity Regent, Upton has been singing and leading worship across the country and around the world. He has twice appeared on The 700 Club.
10. Changing the world of Public Service
A graduate of Regent’s Master of Arts in Communication program, the Louisiana State Senator Sharon Weston Broome served as an elected official almost 20 years, and is one of the Baton Rouge Business Report of the top 25 most influential women. ”
In addition to serving as a reporter for ABC affiliate WBRZ-TV for five years Broome has made several television appearances, including The Montel Williams Show, the 700 Club, Court TV’s Your Turn, and CTN Live!
